Winter CharterSavvy Now Online!!

The Winter issue of CharterSavvy is now available free on line, and it's one of our best (if we do say so!).

A must-read, whether you're a newcomer to bareboat charters or an experienced skipper, is Tyler Drogin's story: A Voyage Of Self-Discovery.  This is more than just about five young people sailing a bareboat from SailWays Charters around the Aegean, but about discovering sailing and what it brings to your life.  This is a don't miss, with amazing photography, too.

We're also taking a look at bareboating in Antigua and Barbuda, which have been seafaring nations for centuries, but are now a jewel on the bareboat charter scene.

All of our usual columns are here, including a charter test of a Lagoon 52 in Sea Trial, a look at charter briefings, and the Bareboat Contessa has some great holiday advice for anyone in the galley.  To read the issue, just click on the cover, or go to www.chartersavvy.com.

Conch Charters Adds 47' Leopard PowerCat In BVIs!

Conch Yacht Charters, based in Road Town on Tortola, is adding the first power catamaran to their fleet, and they're starting with one of the most popular yachts in the BVIs: a Leopard 47.  This yacht, named Lucy and Grace, has availability starting in November, meaning don't delay if you want to book this great yacht, especially for Christmas or New Years.

The Leopard 47 has proven to be a very successful bareboat charter yacht because it has four staterooms and each has a private ensuite head with an enclosed shower stall, so everything isn't wet after you rinse off. Needless to say, there is full air conditioning throughout.

The living area features a large U-shaped galley that is convenient to both the inside settee table as well as the large cockpit dining area that is shaded by the bridge overhang.  Over-sized windows make the 47 bright and cheery.

The flybridge has a staircase from the cockpit that is easy on older knees, and the bridge is spacious with a central helm for all-around visibility.  A fiberglass hardtop keeps you from frying, and there is a wet bar on the bridge so you can enjoy your sundowners without going below.

For details on this and other Conch offerings: www.conchcharters.com or (800) 521-8939, or email them at sailing@conchcharters.com.

MarineMax PowerCat SUPER Deals For Summer!!

OK, folks, this is one of those rare great deals.  MarineMax Vacations, based in the British Virgin Islands, is offering their luxury MarineMax 484 power cat (largest in their fleet) at huge discounts (up to $1850) when you book a 7-day/6-night charter for between July 1 and August 31, 2016.  Now then, you must book by June 15, so don't fool around.  This is one to grab!

The MarineMax 484 is a four-stateroom, four head power cat that is luxuriously outfitted, right down to a watermaker so you don't have to pay dockmasters a small fortune for a few gallons of water.  Take a long hot shower and then just hit the watermaker switch:  it starts pumping clear water into the tank and shuts down when you're filled again.  Anyone who likes to take long showers (and you know who that is!) will love this.

Even better, the 484 has a very cool "living room" forward, with seating and a table tucked under an overhang for sun protection.  It's very civilized--just go through a door at the front of the salon, and you have the perfect place to enjoy sundowners at anchor.

Ready to book?  Go to www.marinemaxvacations.com or call (813) 644-8071.  Don't dilly-dally!!

Navtours Offers Big Bahamas Discounts

Navtours, the bareboat charter company based in the Bahamas, is offering some huge deals on both bareboat and crewed charters in the Bahamas this summer.  Starting May 1st and running to September 1st, you can get 10 sailing days for the price of seven or, even better, 14 sailing days for the price of 10.  Combine these with their low summer rates, and you're saving more than 40% (FORTY!) off regular season rates.

Navtours is unusual because it has three charter bases scattered throughout the Bahamas, with the primary base in Nassau as well as additional bases at Georgetown on Great Exuma and Staniel Cay in the Exumas.  Whether you depart from the main base or one of the satellite bases, you can explore a wonderland of islands that have been unreachable to bareboaters before Navtours. Choose either out-and-back or one-way charters to explore the Exumas, Eleuthera, Cat Island, the Abacos and much more.  Swim with the pigs in the Exumas, dive into Thunderball Grotto from the James Bond film, or kick back on the deck at Staniel Cay Yacht Club.

Navtours offers an interesting range of newer Bavaria, Beneteau, Jeanneau, Hunter and Gibsea monohull sailboats, as well as Leopard and Lagoon catamarans.  For information, go to www.navtours.com or call (514) 382-4445 or (855) 382-4445. But don't miss this great deal!!
