Navtours Offers Big Bahamas Discounts

Navtours, the bareboat charter company based in the Bahamas, is offering some huge deals on both bareboat and crewed charters in the Bahamas this summer.  Starting May 1st and running to September 1st, you can get 10 sailing days for the price of seven or, even better, 14 sailing days for the price of 10.  Combine these with their low summer rates, and you're saving more than 40% (FORTY!) off regular season rates.

Navtours is unusual because it has three charter bases scattered throughout the Bahamas, with the primary base in Nassau as well as additional bases at Georgetown on Great Exuma and Staniel Cay in the Exumas.  Whether you depart from the main base or one of the satellite bases, you can explore a wonderland of islands that have been unreachable to bareboaters before Navtours. Choose either out-and-back or one-way charters to explore the Exumas, Eleuthera, Cat Island, the Abacos and much more.  Swim with the pigs in the Exumas, dive into Thunderball Grotto from the James Bond film, or kick back on the deck at Staniel Cay Yacht Club.

Navtours offers an interesting range of newer Bavaria, Beneteau, Jeanneau, Hunter and Gibsea monohull sailboats, as well as Leopard and Lagoon catamarans.  For information, go to or call (514) 382-4445 or (855) 382-4445. But don't miss this great deal!!

Get Out The Vote For Bitter End!!

The folks at Wight Vodka, that sailor's vodka from England, wants your vote for the best yachting bar.  Past winners have included Soggy Dollar on Jost Van Dyke in the BVIs, but that's the only BVI winner in the six years of the contest.  C'mon!!  We all know the BVIs have great pubs so let's get out the vote!

This year there are two bars on the ballot in the BVIs: Bitter End Yacht Club on Virgin Gorda and Pirate's Bight on Norman Island.

While we don't want to rig the voting (well, yes we do), we'd like to encourage you to vote for Bitter End.  It's practically a homeport for bareboaters, the marina is friendly and accommodating, and they have lots of mooring balls available.  And it's a family atmosphere, which you don't find at Pirate's Bight as the evening wears on.

So the official CharterSavvy recommendation for your vote is Bitter End Yacht Club.  Get your ballot at (just click on the link!) and do it soon because voting ends on December 30.
