Bareboating Icon Departs...Again!!

Not long ago, we wrote the good news that the Willy T, famed floating restaurant and pub, had been replaced after the original was driven ashore in last year’s hurricanes and wrecked.

Then we had to amend that story, when the Willy T was kicked off from Norman Island when it was offending a development being built on shore.  But the good news was that it was welcomed at Peter Island, just a bit away.

But now the tide has changed and Peter Island has given the Willy T just three months to depart and find another place to drop its hook. Peter Island apparently filed a complaint with the BVI Department of Trade and Consumer Affairs.

At this point, no one knows where the Willy T will end up.  Co-owner Ewan Anderson says they are “in limbo” and frustrated because they’ve been a tourist attraction and bareboat icon for 35 years.  There are rumors that Willy T may leave the BVIs for good.  We’ll keep you posted!
